The South Plainfield Police Department, incorporated in 1926, is a law enforcement agency that promotes public safety, identifies and solves criminal cases and safeguards citizens rights. It employs a staff of more than 70 full-time sworn officers, civilians and community volunteers. The department maintains a records division that manages and processes department reports, requests, permits, and registration and record documents. The South Plainfield Police Department s patrol division conducts regular patrols and responds to calls for service. The division also provides traffic management and first aid services. Located in South Plainfield, N.J., it supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior.
