The West Caldwell Recreation Department serves Caldwell and West Caldwell residents. The facilities include nine parks, seven schools and the West Caldwell Civic Center. The recreation areas include baseball and softball fields, playgrounds, tennis and platform tennis courts, horseshoe pits and soccer fields.
The two municipal pools are operated by the West Caldwell Pool Utility. Certain seasonal recreation activities are run at these sites through the Pool Utility.
Most programs are offered at no cost. In some cases, a small registration fee is charged to help offset the cost of supplies. The tennis courts are operated at a small hourly rate during peak seasons.
The recreation department is the place to go if you are new to Caldwell or West Caldwell or you simply need a little guiding. The department offers maps and information on all of the recreation facilities, including the parks and pools. The department knows about most events that are taking place in the area and you can find any brochure imaginable in the office. The staff at the front desk are friendly and helpful.
They are the people to ask when it comes to finding out about what's going on in town, whether it's fall, winter, spring or summer. There are year-round activities you can learn about as well, from adult fitness to square dancing.
The Recreation Department keeps track of what special events are happening in the area and provides necessary information on how to get involved, whether it be for the Halloween Costume Parade, the Tree Lighting, the Fourth of July Celebration or the Gazebo Concert series.
