Established in 1933, the Council of State Governments, also known as CSG, is a nonpartisan, public and nonprofit organization that provides information, research, and training to state officials throughout the United States. The council conducts public policy research and analysis, holds seminars and conferences, and publishes various regional newsletters related to agriculture, education, environment, energy, fiscal affairs, transportation and regional trends. It facilitates the exchange of ideas among state policy makers, business leaders and academic community. The Council of State Governments works with a team of more than 50 staff members. Headquartered in Lexington, Ken., it maintains office locations in New York City, Atlanta, Lombard, Ill., and Sacramento, Calif.
