History
Manhattan Fencing Center's coaches are all world-class instructors who have coached and/or fenced at Olympic or national levels. They are well-versed in the latest pedagogical techniques in the sport of fencing and most have a Master of Physical Education degree. Classes and lessons are designed to accommodate students of different ages and skill levels. Programs include the Musketeer Club (ages 5-6); youth classes (ages 7-12); tween classes (ages 13-18), adult group classes; footwork and conditioning classes; competition classes; intermediate and elite classes; summer and winter training camps; international training camps, and local tournaments. MFC hosts competitions and winter/summer camps at the Manhattan facility and invite members from the best national teams in the world. Competitive fencing has helped place countless students into the best universities in the country, and will continue to do so under the supervision of our leading team of coaches.
Specialties
Manhattan Fencing Center specializes in fencing instruction in the foil and saber for all levels from age 5 to Adult/Veteran. Although fencing can be taught to beginners of any age, we are often asked this question by parents. For a child who may be interested in competitive fencing, the perfect age to begin lessons is between 6 and 12 years old.
