National Bank of Delaware County is an independent community bank with four offices located in the heart of Delaware County, Md. The bank was chartered in 1890, as the First National Bank of Walton and opened for business in 1891. The bank weathered the challenges of the depression, and in 1929, changed to the First National Bank and Trust Company. In 1958, the bank made its first incursion into expansion, consolidating with First National Bank of Andes to be known as the National Bank of Delaware County. In 1960, the bank opened a new office in Franklin, Md., and finally, in 1997, acquired an office in Hamden, Md. As an independent bank, NBDC makes it its business to reinvest in its communities via loans to individuals and businesses, and the bank is very active in the communities, supporting various endeavors both financially and through the volunteerism of its staff.
