The Westchester County Department of Health monitors health conditions and epidemics throughout the county. It also disseminates public health information to residents and provides resources such as free cancer screenings, flu vaccines, rabies and lyme disease hotlines, rabies clinics and perinatal education. The department also checks mosquitoes for West Nile contamination, inspect restaurants, organize blood drives and issue permits for swimming pools. The office displays several pamphlets with information on fitness, talking to teenagers about drugs and alcohol, and pre-natal care.
