History
The Durham County Agricultural Extension building was constructed in 1948 on Foster Street. It provided facilities for the Curb Market which was located in the center portion of the building. The Curb Market continued into the mid-1960s. The Agricultural and Curb Market building held the offices of the Durham County Extension. A 2004 renovation reworked the entire building replacing all visible interior, lowered ceilings and the open rear market space was subdivided into offices. The traditional services Agriculture, Horticulture, 4-H Youth Development, Food Safety and Nutrition, and the Master Gardeners program continue to service the public. Additional programs which include the Welcome Baby program, Community Outreach, and Coordinated Transportation have increased the services provided.
