The Rockingham County Department of Public Health is a public service agency that works towards the adoption and enforcement of policies and regulations necessary to protect and promote the health and well being of the citizens of Rockingham County, N.C. It supports the Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC), which is a supplemental nutrition program for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children. The Rockingham County Department of Public Health operates a variety of adult health, asthma, child care and dental clinics that provide acute and preventive care and immunization services. Established in 1940, the public health department is located in Wentworth, N.C.
