Located near the shores of Lake Erie, the Ashtabula Arts Center is a multi-arts facility that features dance, theater, music and the visual arts. On the grounds you will find Straw Hat Theatre, an outdoor summer venue for musical productions. Straw Hat Theatre musical productions run from June through August. September through April productions are produced by G.B. Community Theatre on the arts center's indoor main stage. Through its resident performing company, "Ballet Theatre Ashtabula," a production of "The Nutcracker" is produced each December and an original spring dance show is held each May, showcasing different styles of dance. The Music department offers a variety of performances, programs, classes and recitals as well as individual instruction in many instruments. Rotating art gallery exhibits change each month and feature the works of local, regional and national artists. The gallery is open to the public during regular business hours. Admission to the gallery is free. The Ashtabula Arts Center is open Monday through Thursday 9 - 9, Friday 9 - 4 and Saturday 9 - 1.
