The Ontario Division of Police is a law enforcement agency that preserves peace and detects and prevents crime. The division supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the use of illegal drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior. It conducts a neighborhood watch program that encourages citizens to participate in law enforcement by reporting suspicious criminal activities. The Ontario Division of Police provides fingerprinting identification services for children and adults, as well as conducts criminal background checks. The division undertakes cases related to murder, criminal and sexual assault, robbery, burglary, theft, arson and auto theft. It employs a school resource officer that acts as a liaison between schools and the police department.
