The Great Egg Harbor River starts as a trickle near Berlin, N.J., and gradually widens as it picks up the waters of 17 tributaries on its way to the Great Egg Harbor and Atlantic Ocean. Established in 1992, nearly 129 miles of th Great Egg Harbor River system rests within the Pinelands National Reserve, N.J. It offers a range of recreational and adventurous activities, including backpacking, biking, bird watching, boating, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, kayaking, nature walks, stargazing and wildlife viewing. The Great Egg Harbor River is located in Philadelphia and is a part of National Park Service, which is a network of more than 400 natural, cultural and recreational sites throughout the U.S. It is a bureau within the Department of the Interior.
