County of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, formed in 1729, has various departments, such as human resources, mental health, parks and recreation, property assessment, planning, children and youth and agriculture preservation. Its parks and recreation department manages more than five parks throughout the county. The parks feature various recreational facilities, such as a pool, skating ring, athletic fields and courts, a public lending library and an environmental center. In addition, the parks feature pavilions, buildings and meeting rooms on rent. The county s children and youth department provides protection services to more than 8,000 children.
