Pinemere was founded in 1942 by the Jewish Welfare Board (later the Jewish Community Center Association) in order to create an exceptionally beautiful camp on 180 acres in the Poconos for children ages 6 to 14 (Grades 2 through 9) in a primarily Jewish milieu. Pinemere has created a traditionally Jewish family atmosphere where children can grow physically, spiritually and socially with the help and encouragement of a compassionate and caring staff. The camp accommodates 225 campers and 110 staff members, whose goal it is to provide each child with as much personal attention, guidance and nurturing as possible.
There is an amazing array of activities available to the campers (see website for a complete rundown), including extensive Jewish instruction in traditional ceremonies, programs and services. From time to time there are off-site trips and overnight camps and other enriching excursions. You'll find many stellar reviews on the website.
Camp sessions of various lengths are available, including seven weeks, four weeks, three weeks, one week and a three-day "Spark" session, ranging in price from $350 to $7,200.
Pinemere is a kosher, ACA-accredited, JCC-affiliated camp.
