WGPA originally part of the Bethlehem Globe Publishing Authority (The GPA). WGPA-AM and FM (now WZZO), first license was granted 1947-0311w studios located at 426 Brodhead Ave, Bethlehem next to Globe-Times Daily Newspaper. WGPA-AM-FM simulcast at the time, FCC license stated ownership as A-B-E Broadcasting, division of the Bethlehem Globe Times Newspapers. WGPA originally broadcast popular music of big band & swing. Bob Wolken, a Liberty High School graduate became an on-air announcer & remained through changes in ownership and formats into the 1990s. By 1973 Bethlehem Globe Publishing Authority divest its radio holdings. WGPA AM-FM were sold to sold to Holt Broadcasting, Holt sold WGPA-AM to Henry Chadwick in 1978 Studios were then moved to 528 N. New St.. where GPA adopted the 'Sunny1100' moniker.
