The Center for Alcohol and Addictions Studies promotes the identification, prevention and treatment of alcohol and other drug problems through research, education, training and policy advocacy. Established in 1982, the center is a part of Brown University. It consists of more than 100 faculty members. The center also has a special training team that works within various departments and teaching hospitals of the university. The center operates several training programs that are funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Its training programs provide postdoctoral research training for behavioral, medical and social scientists. The Center for Alcohol and Addictions Studies is located in Providence, R.I.
