History
Charleston Habitat for Humanity (CHFH) was founded in 1989 as a non-profit, Christian housing ministry. The affiliate's earliest service was partnering with the local community to transform the Low Country of South Carolina after Category 5 Hurricane Hugo ripped into the Southeastern Seaboard in September of 1989. CHFH was able to assist the community with its reformation and continue serving the community long after the tragedy had passed.
Specialties
In its 26 years, CHFH and its volunteer force have built 82 houses, renovated 16 homes and supported 44 homes in Honduras - improving over 600 lives through home ownership. Along with our partner families, generous volunteers and donors, we have restored the hope and dignity that poverty housing often strips away. Our vision is to break the cycle of poverty by providing affordable homes to people in the cities of Charleston and North Charleston. Seeking to put God's love into action, Charleston Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. All donations and purchases at the ReStore help us accomplish those goals!
