Hermitage Elementary School is an educational institution that provides academic classes and extracurricular activities to more than 250 students in kindergarten through grade four. Founded in 1962, it employs a work force of reading specialists, language instructors and special education teachers. The school conducts reading, math, music, art and physical education classes. It offers an accelerated reader program that is used to monitor and guide reading practices and help students in improving reading abilities. Hermitage Elementary School operates a library and media center that provides a collection of books and research reports, as well as print and nonprint materials. It has a parent-teacher organization that works for the overall development of the school. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It is located in Hermitage, Tenn. Hermitage Elementary School is governed by Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, which serves more than 75,000 students and maintains over 180 buildings.
