History
Deriving its name from its long local tradition, St. Mary's Bookstore is now in its eighth decade of offering Church supplies, Christian books, gifts and collectibles. It started in the basement of St. Mary's Church in Nashville, Tennessee in 1939, the bookstore was owned and operated by the Catholic Diocese of Nashville until 1979 when store founder Monsignor Charles Williams retired. Present owner Jean Dortch then purchased the bookstore from the Diocese. St. Mary's is truly a family business and is, as their motto declares, more than a bookstore.
