The Program Development Division is a part of the Tennessee Department of Transportation, which is a multimodal agency that is responsible for overseeing aviation, public transit, waterways and railroads. The division has a program development and scheduling office that develops transportation programs and establishes project schedules. Its local programs development office coordinates various state and federal programs with local governments. The Program Development Division also maintains a program operations office that is responsible for establishing project funding authorizations and serves as the Liaison with the Federal Highway Administration. The Tennessee Department of Transportation has more than 4,200 employees and maintains facilities in Jackson, Nashville, Chattanooga and Knoxville in Tennessee.
