Child and Family Guidance Centers is a nonprofit corporation that serves families affected by mental illnesses, high-risk behavior, and substance and child abuse. Established in 1896, the organization nurtures children, strengthens families and empowers individuals by providing solutions to life s problems through counseling, education, public awareness and community partnerships. Child and Family Guidance Centers is funded by the United Way, government grants, contracts, civic organizations and service fees. The organization offers psychiatric and therapy-based services for adults, children and families. The program provides families with skills to reduce chronic problems, including mental illnesses, family violence, child abuse and homelessness through an array of family-focused mental health services. In addition, it supports the Family and Community Education Program.
