Mothers Against Drunk Driving, also known as MADD, is a nonprofit organization. Founded in 1980, the organization offers support services for the victims of violent crime and deals in the prevention of underage drinking. It specializes in justice advocacy, financial recovery guidance, and bereavement and injury support services. Mothers Against Drunk Driving serves the needs of more than 330,000 individuals in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska in the United States. The organization provides supporting law enforcement services by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It has a staff of more than 1,400 trained victim advocates. In addition, Mothers Against Drunk Driving offers over 1,150 assembly programs to nearly 925 elementary and middle schools.
