Dr. Shirodkar grew up in Tyler, Texas, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania; He then attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, and an internship and Urology residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Program in Miami, Florida. During his residency he served as chief resident from 2010 to 2011 and also received the Robert Zeppa Award for both his research and clinical work. Advanced urological cancer techniques, including laparoscopic (key-hole) and robotic surgery are part of Dr. Shirodkar's expertise, He is a prolific published writer of urological topics and scientific papers ranging from kidney transplantation to genetic research of urological, prostate, and kidney cancers.
