The Children's Shelter is a private, nonprofit, nationally approved corporation that has been providing services to San Antonio and Bexar County in Texas. Its services have expanded from emergency shelter care to a continuum of care, including emergency shelters, foster care, adoption, residential treatment care, child abuse prevention and teen pregnancy programs. It offers various services, such as adoption, foster care and emergency shelters. It offers Mothers and Schools, a program serving teen parents in the San Antonio Independent School District and Southside Independent School District. The program provides support groups, parenting skills classes, case management to pregnant teens, and homebound education and tutoring. It is a United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County agency and is approved by the Texas Alliance of Child and Family Services. The Children's Shelter was founded in 1901 and is located in San Antonio.
