Carin's represents the quintessential Horatio Alger American success story. Arriving in the U.S. in 1975, Giosue Joe Sanzone and wife, Rosalia, spoke little English and had few assets. The founding of Carini Italian Restaurant in 1978 symbolized their lifelong dream of business ownership based on an intuitive feeling that success would follow with a sufficient measure of hard work and patience. Today, Carini occupies more than 8, 000 sq. ft. and has 24 employees. The restaurant has become a fixture in Richmond East End dining. A second generation of Sanzones is also active in running the day to day affairs of the restaurant including daughters Cecilia and Maria.
