The Northwest Piedmont Council of Governments provides assistance to its members in meeting the needs of citizens by nurturing regional cohesiveness and providing leadership in identifying issues and reaching solutions. It also bridges the responsibilities of federal, state and local governments as the Lead Regional Organization (LRO). The council employs a staff of more than 45 full-time personnel that includes technicians, health care specialists, career facilitators, and program directors and coordinators. The Northwest Piedmont Council of Governments supports the National Association of Development Organizations, which provides training, information and representation for regional development organizations in small metropolitan and rural America. It is located in Winston Salem, N.C.
