The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries offers a range of administrative and inspection services for the safety and security of more than 3 million workers in Washington. It provides medical and limited wage replacement coverages to workers who suffer job-related injuries and illnesses. The department administers the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act by developing and enforcing rules that protect workers from hazardous job conditions. Its inspectors visit more than 6,500 workplace and business sites that violate health and safety rules. The department inspects boilers, elevators and manufactured homes.
