The Wakinikona Hawaiian Club of Seattle recently celebrated its 53rd birthday with a potluck dinner and kanikapila music session. The club, which has around 20 members, enjoyed Hawaiian kine food items and a big cake to mark the occasion. Long-time members, including Larry Kamahele, Reidar Smith, and Peter Nova, entertained the attendees with their musical talents.
In addition to their birthday celebration, the club also attended a Hawaiian community meeting on Hawaiian Self Governance, where they had the opportunity to hear different perspectives and gain a better understanding of the issues surrounding Hawaiian self-governance. The club encourages its members to enroll in Kanaiolowalu and participate in the effort for Hawaiian nation building.
