Dr. Tamera J. Hatfield is a board-certified, fellowship-trained UCI Health obstetrician who specializes in maternal-fetal medicine and high-risk pregnancies. She also has a special interest in critical care obstetrics and cancer in pregnancy. She earned her medical degree at the UCI School of Medicine in Irvine, where she also completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine. Previously, she received a doctorate of philosophy in behavioral neuroscience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research interests include critical care for pregnant women, maternal nutrition, weight gain during pregnancy, preeclampsia and the use of magnetic resonance imaging to evaluate brain injury as it relates to perinatal risk factors. She is the author or co-author of several publications in national journals.
