An aerospace medicine physician and researcher with NASA’s Exploratory Medical Capabilities team, he studies the risks of long-duration spaceflight on the gynecologic and reproductive health of astronauts. In addition, he is studying fetal growth restrictions, maternal endocrine disorders and the effects of chronic low-dose radiation on pregnancy outcomes in mice. He is the author or co-author of more than a dozen peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters. In his spare time, Steller enjoys playing beach volleyball and cheering on the UCI men's volleyball team, for which he played as an undergraduate, becoming a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 All-American and national champion, and earning the university's Lauds & Laurels award for outstanding student-athlete in 2009.
